DESCRIPTION:
LPW - H.R. Ekegren, Copenhagen, 38mm, 18K gold original case appears to have originally been HC style that has had its front cut out and replaced with a glaze for OF style display, signed gold cuvette also bearing J.E. Caldwell & Co, Philadelphia retailer marking as well as Jan. 31st, 1873 date, white enamel SS dial, SW-button-set, fully capped lever escapement with counterpoise, 20J, wolf's tooth winding, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#15733 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 33.4 dwt (52.0 g). Comes with a fitted leather box marked internally with "Guggenbühl-Merian, Horlogerie Bijouterie, Bale."
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine scratches, plates with some overall hazing and scattered spots; dial with blue colored hl near 5; excellent hands; case with broken or missing front lift springs, case shows medium wear, fine scratches, mild ding to band at 5:30, reduced engine turning detail with loss at shoulder; tight bow, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with scratches and abrasions. Leather box shows ample wear, staining, scratches and abrasions to exterior, interior with fabric loss over joint area.
